Explore Nearby Nature, and the Books that Enrich Our Lives

Habitat Library’s mission is to help connect people to nature, land, and the places where we live and work. Our goal is to help create a caring community around the love of nature, and all the unexpected wonders to be found in the city and beyond.

WALK with the Habitat Library
One of our goals for the year ahead is to explore how the act of walking (or rolling) can help connect us, in Thoreau's words, to the influence of the earth. In the months ahead we'll be experimenting with bird walks, tree treks, foraging & sketching forays -- along with book & poetry clubs that are always on the move. We are also busy creating a special library-within-a-library: a WALKING LIBRARY, full of great books & guides. For much more, SIGN-UP for our Newsletter below!
A habitat for Habitat: our Site Search is underway
A HOME for Habitat Library. We're very excited to embark on a 2026 site search. Habitat Library after all, was always meant to be shared. Every day we think about that just-right space, where good books can be borrowed, and where new connections & discoveries will be made. With a home, our programs will keep growing, and we'll be reaching many more people. Help us unleash our rich resource about people, nature & land! If you have any thoughts (or site leads), EMAIL jeff@habitatlibrary.co.site

What's Next for the Habitat Library?

In 2026 we'll be establishing the Habitat Library as a nonprofit organization, so until that time we won't be able to process donations. But until then, there are many other ways we can connect with each other! We'll always be looking for people and organizations that will help shape our programs and the library itself. Please reach out with your thoughts and questions. We would also love for you to sign up for a Book Club or other events. AND this will be especially helpful: please be another set of eyes and ears looking for the future home for Habitat Library's books and programs. We're always looking for the right place and right partners to help create a gathering place focused on books, learning, nature and the land. **jeff@habitatlibrary.co.site**
